What is Important in the World – Humanitarian Crisis or Obesity

The world faces a humanitarian crises, with millions of refugees fleeing, not for economic benefit, but to save their lives. Many are dying as a result. The response of the government is to say that taking more refugees will not solve the problem.

Of course it won’t – but it will save the lives of those who have already been displaced.

Long term, the only solution is to broker peace in the war torn areas. As one refugee said “You just stop the war and we don’t want to go to Europe”Tim Refugees

Pictures of a child drowned in this desperate attempt to be able to live and slowly, people are beginning to find their humanity – some but not all.

Tim Farron has been clear from the start that the UK must be part of the solution to the problem

It matters at a local level, with people fighting to support the refugees in Calais https://www.facebook.com/groups/ElyCalaisRefugeeAction/ . So you would expect support from our local councillors, but what we get is this:

 

Sure other things matter, but obesity compared to this tragic humanitarian crisis?  This is what your County Councillor and District Councillor saw as important today:
